It's Tuesday again..

Seems like Tuesdays are the days for blogging for me.. I suppose it's because Monday's are pretty busy with work and the depression of another weekend ending!!..

Last week was pretty quiet.. moved into Blake's pub on Thursday night (Residence #11 in the Life of Beck)- I couldn't believe that my possessions filled a 7 seater van! - i ordered a station wagon - but luckily they sent a van!!.. I was also surprised that all my stuff fit into our new room (thanks to some new wardrobes and drawers).. but I'm quite happy with how we've arranged the place - we have a lounge and tv area, a walk in wardrobe type area, and of course the bedroom type area.. it's sorta like a mini studio.. will send photos once we get the place a little tidier!..

Friday night we went to see The Cat Empire (Melbourne band).. lots of fun dancing and groovin along!.. Sat - watched the Wallabies go down to the Boks.. and Sat night had a nice quiet dinner with Ray at a new French restaurant accross the road from his house where we pondered life, love and lore over some great food and a lovely bottle of merlot... with some moscow mule cocktails for dessert!.. Sunday, I spent searching for some more storage solutions for our room, and Sunday night had a quiet dinner with Pauline at Busaba Eathai.. with some Mojito's for dessert!.. (hmm.. it's like a re-occuring dream.. a good one)..

Went and saw a band called the Killers last night.. they were okay.. I didn't really know any of their stuff from before.. and nothing really grabbed me, but it was a good night out..

Off to a ol' English pub tonight for a quiz night!.. should be interesting!..

Anyway.. enough of my ramblings.. be nice if I had some responses...

P.S. Happy 29th Wedding Anniversary Mum & Dad!!

Bumbling around Berlin..

Well, what started off as a great idea for a b'day present for Blake seemed to turn into a doomed weekend of disasters.. though we still have fun and enjoyed the city..

It all started when Blake and I turned up to Liverpool St station to catch a train to Stanstead airport - only to have just missed one, so we took the opportunity to buy a few travel necessaties while we waited for the next train - only to lose track of the time and miss that train - so another half an hour til the next train - which by our watches would get us to the airport just on time... apparently we were wrong - arriving at the check in desk a minute too late.. we were told there was no way we could get on our flight! - My first EVER missed flight!!

so we paid the extra fee and got booked on a flight at 6 am the next morning and decided to try out the hospitality of the Stanstead Mountfitchet (the closest village to the airport).. Lovely little village - but have no real want to go back there - except for the pub with the outdoor table tennis table!

We managed to make our flight in the morning (though after a bit of a panic attack when our taxi was late picking us up) and finally made it into berlin..

We did a 4 hour walking tour around Berlin, saw all the major sights, and learnt a whole heap about the history of the place - some really interesting stuff!

Sunday wandered through a big street fair - munching on sausages and grabbing drinks from the many street bars, then we hired some bikes (after spending an hour or so following various directions to find the bike hire place!).. explored the city even more, picniced in the Tiergarden, admired the Freedom Tower, listened to jazz on museum island, and posed in front of Checkpoint Charlie.. It was a great way to get around the city and cheap too.. until of course I realised that I had lost the key to the lock and had to pay for a replacement!..

The next day was time to journey back to london which started off with us of course JUST missing a train to the airport and then when we got the next train, making the realisation that it wasn't the express - and hence were cutting it fine to make our plane.. and then one of the few times we didn't buy a train ticket, and hence of course got picked up by an inspector and was told to pay a fine!! but we made our flight back to london - only to find out the trains weren't running from the airport to central london - by that time, I wasn't surprised by any of this!!..

Meanwhile, we had a great time, but of course way too short!!...

Make your own taste of heaven...

Mojito Recipe

1 shot light rum.
Half a teaspoon of sugar
Juice of half a lime
Sprigs of Mint - crush stalks (not leaves) to release essential oils

Method Add all ingredients, fill glass with ice cubes, top up with soda or mineral water, and shake or stir well. Decorate with a sprig of Mint.

I live for the weekend!..

Another weekend has passed in lovely summer fashion!.. Friday night we went back to Somerset House

(concert venue of the year - when we saw Underworld there last year).. It was an amazing night with Basement Jaxx putting on another fantastic show!..

Saturday was spent starting at Macca's pub in Hampstead to watch the Wallabies beat the All Blacks, then we went off to Hampstead Heath for a good old BBQ and lots of frisbee/ball/puppy play.. It was an amazingly sunny and relaxing day!.. Just what you're supposed to do on a summer weekend!..

Sat night Blake and I moved his stuff from his old room to our new (bigger) room at the pub.. it's amazing how much junk one can accumulate after a year!..

Sunday, I headed over to Kris's for her b'day Mojito bash!.. Many Mojito's were indeed drunk (thanks to Omar and Adam), and of course all the important topics discuss (e.g. the colour of chook's underwear, and the most graceful way of stepping over a transparent skylight)..

Ah Summer.. please don't leave me...

Last weekend was the hottest and sunniest weekend of summer yet.. and what do you think i was doing??.. playing in the park?.. swimming at a beach?.. sunbaking on my balcony?.. NO!!.. I was tucked up in bed UNDER A BLANKET delerious with fever, aches and pains with that stupid flu going around!.. oh yes so happy.. and so happy to be back at work on Monday having used my weekend so fruitfully!!..
